His/Her Card Idea

His / Her Card Class

A friend gave me a copy of the boy jeans.  I made it into a shaped card, added faux stitching, a 3D pocket and frog and3D'd the buttons and then added Glossy Accents.  Then I thought it would be cute to have a girl version and post it on the class gallery.  I used paper piecing, added real buttons and 3D'd the pocket and frog.  I also added half a double flower ribbon I recently bought.

His/Her Cards Day 4 Card 2

His/Her Card Class Day 4 Card 2

I wanted to try the card with the name tag and heart closing.  I made the 4 layer letters and heart.  I added white enamel to the heart and used copper acrylic paint dabber on the letters and border.  I left enough room above my friends name so I could add a sentiment when I decide when/why I'll use this card.  This was fun to make and a little different---which is always nice.

Since I have neither a father nor a mother I made this card so it could be sent to a friend.  I used Word like Jennifer showed us in her video.  Makes it fun and easy to print out font.  It looks a lot better than the mailing labels I had been using (those showed somewhat).  I added my silver dots with a silver Sharpie and also added a foam poke-a-dot star on the inside.   I didn't have a star die so I traced  a star and cut them half out using a craft blade.

I stamped the wheat in black and added an argyle border in purple.  I add the sentiment and then mounted this on a purple mat.  I thought it was busy enough so I didn't add the splashes of color I thought I would.

I used colored pencils and a colorless blender on the flowers and butterflies.  I used Distress Inks and water for the splastters.  Then I added the sentiment and mounted on a purple mat.

The right inks and colors make all the difference with this method.  I really enjoyed trying this out.   Like how the masculine feel is there.  This class is helping me a great deal to see how to change up a few things to make a card masculine.

Next time I would use a secondary stamping of the bkgd stamp in order to have it not so bright.  I would also stop the vellum at the edge of the kraft paper instead of going all the way out over the purple mat.

I tried the technique Jennifer did....not as easy as she makes it look.  Definitely the type of ink you use makes a huge difference.  I got ink on the side of the front by mistake so I cut it down and mounted it on the purple mat.  I sprayed the vellum with glue and attached directly to the front.
